CII plans Common Economic Zone in North India
Chandigarh, Jun 13 (UNI) The CII would strive for a Common Economic Zone in northern India with stress upon abolition of multiple tax structures, free movement of goods and sharing of best practises across various state.
With 30 per cent share of the country's population and a contribution of 28 per cent to the nation's GDP, the northern region held a vast market potential which must be properly developed, the newly-elected chairman of CII (Northern region) Deep Kapuria said here today in his first media interaction after taking over the office.
''Well co-ordinated planning and development of a common agenda among the states would put the region, at present lagging behind the Southern regions in attracting investments, on a new growth trajectory,'' he said.
The CII was committed to enhance the competitiveness of the region and develop its business opportunities to promote a more vibrant northern region nationally and internationally, Mr Kapuria said.
