BUENOS AIRES, June 13 (Reuters) Argentine domestic flights will resume today after almost three days of paralysis, according to two airlines hit by a check-in staff strike that stranded thousands of angry passengers.

''Starting at midnight the strike is over, at least for a week. We're showing our willingness to negotiate with the company,'' union representative Paula Aragon told Mitre radio.

A spokesman for Aerolineas Argentinas and Austral, which handle 85 percent of domestic passenger flights, confirmed to Reuters that flights would start again today.

The airlines, both controlled by Spain's Marsans, threatened yesterday to fire staff who did not return to work.

Counter check-in staff who belong to the Association of Aeronautic Personnel union went on strike to demand extra security after two disgruntled passengers fought with two workers over the weekend.

The passengers were frustrated by delays after days of heavy fog last week.

Some travelers have been stranded at the Jorge Newbery Airport in Buenos Aires since the weekend.

Other airlines, such as LAN Argentina -- the local branch of Chile's LAN Airlines -- were not affected by the strike.

Most international flights were running normally out of Buenos Aires' international airport, Ezeiza, although heavy fog had also delayed some services.
