6 dowry death accused slapped life term

Gorakhpur, June 13 (UNI) A local court has sentenced to life imprisonment six dowry death accused here.

According to the prosecution, Bahraich resident Manjur Khalik's daughter, married to Mohd Faiz, was constantly harassed for dowry.

On January 18, 1998, the victim was beaten to death by her husband Faiz and kin after she failed to quench their thirst for money.

Later, Manjur had lodged an FIR against the accused.

On the basis of substantial evidence, Additional District and Sessions Judge (II) Indrajeet Verma yesterday convicted Faiz and kins Majeed Khan, Meena, Siraj, Zakir and Nagma, besides imposing a fine of Rs 10,000 each.
