UPA failed over past three years: Ananth
Jabalpur, June 12 (UNI) Slamming the Centre as having failed over the past three years, BJP General Secretary Ananth Kumar -- who also holds charge of Madhya Pradesh -- today quipped that the UPA's achievements were ''hatya, atmahatya and vishwasghaat (murder, suicide and treachery).'' ''Serial blasts are taking place, the situation is constantly deteriorating in Jammu and Kashmir and the country's internal security is endangered,'' he said at the inaugural session of a two-day Madhya Pradesh BJP Working Council meeting here.
Mr Kumar alleged that three economists -- Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Finance Minister P Chidambaram and Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia -- were managing the economy but the country was reeling under inflation.
''During Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee's premiership, inflation was under control and the common man led a prosperous life. Now, farmers are committing suicide in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Kerala due to wrong policies. The UPA is indulging in politics of appeasement and votebank,'' Mr Kumar added.
He alleged that counting the number of Army personnel belonging to minority communities, granting reservation to Muslim students in Aligarh and Hyderabad were lethal for the country.
''Just as the Vajpayee government focussed on road-laying and river-linkage, the Shivraj Singh Chouhan regime is proceeding on the development path in Madhya Pradesh. The Jalabhishek Yojana, Ladli Laxmi Yojana and Deen Dayal Swasthya Yojana are worth mentioning,'' Mr Kumar claimed.
Accusing former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh, Union Minister Kamal Nath, Guna MP Jyotiraditya Scindia and the Congress' Madhya Pradesh unit of ''pushing this state to destruction,'' he asked the Centre to reply why substandard wheat was supplied to BPL families and the kersone quota reduced.
