Temperatures dip after rain in HP

Shimla, Jun 12 (UNI) Overnight rains plummeted mercury by three to five degrees in almost all places in Himachal Pradesh, providing much needed relief to people from the hot dry weather conditions prevailing in the state during the summer season.

The showers lashed Dharamshala town in Kangra Hamirpur, Mandi and Shimla and other places of the state and continued throughout the night after recording extreme high temperatures during the last few days.

According to meteorological department here, the maximum and minimum temperatures at Shimla dropped to 24 and 15.2 degree Celsius and as compared to yesterday's high of 28.5 and low of 21.2 after recording 28.2 mm of rainfall up till 0830 hrs.

The maximum at Sundernagar also dropped to 32.6 degrees from yesterday's high of 37.4 after 62.2 mm of overnight rain, while it stood at 35 degrees at Bhuntar and 25.2 degrees at Kalpa in Kinnuar district.

The minimum at Sundernagar, Bhuntar and Kalpa stood at 21, 21.2 and 12.7 degrees as compared to 24.6, 20 and 12.5 degree recorded yesterday.

The met office said Una town's day temperature fell almost by three degrees to 38.4 degrees from yesterday's high of 41.4 degrees, and night temperature by four degrees to 24.

The minimum at Solan fell to 20.2 degrees after 9.8 mm rain, while Nahan and Palampur recorded night temperatures of 19.6 and 20 degrees respectively, the met office said.
