Karnataka: Special team formed to nab dacoits
Mangalore, June 12: A special team has been formed to nab a 10-member dacoit gang, which robbed Rs 64.97 lakh worth jewels and cash from a shop at Bantwal in Dakshina Kannada district on June nine.
Superintendent of Police B Dayanand told sources that an inter-state professional gang might be behind the robbery.
He said efforts were on to arrest the gang, which decamped with the booty after threatening the employees of the jewellery at gun point and used crude bomb to scare the public gathered in front of the shop.
Though the incident was flashed immediately to all police stations ,the gang could not be traced.
He said the dog squad pressed into service lost scent due to heavy rains.
