Kasaba Police Circle Inspector Assainar was suspended from service, pending a departmental inquiry against him in connection with the security bunglings at an official function, attended by the Minister on June 4, Inspector General of Police (North) M N Krishnamurthy told reporters here.

He said explanations have been sought from City Police Commissioner Balaramkumar Upadhaya and Assistant Commissioner of Police (South) K Jayendran as recommended by DIG Harinath Mishra, who probed the incident.
