Ritual performed following information from authorities: Sabha

Alappuzha, Kerala, June 12 (UNI) Reacting to the purification ritual performed at the famous Guruvayoor temple in the wake of the visit of Union Minister Vayalar Ravi's son, the Yogaskhema Sabha today said the ritual was conducted following information from the temple authorities to the head priest, that a non-Hindu had entered the temple.

Addressing a press conference here, Sabha General Secretary Subrahmanian Moosath said the ritual was conducted as non-Hindus were barred to enter into the temple.

''The Sabha was not against any non-Hindu entering the temple, provided they were believers of Hinduism,'' he added.

The Sabha criticised the attitude of State Devaswom Minister G Sudhakaran, who came down heavily on the 'tantris'.

Mr Ravi's wife, Mercy, is a Christian. Temple authorities, treating his son as a non-Hindu, felt the ceremony was necessary.
