Prosecution withdraws revision application in Haseena case

Mumbai, June 12 (UNI) The prosecution today withdrew its revision application seeking cancellation of bail to Haseena Parkar, sister of fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim rpt Ibrahim Kaskar, in an alleged extortion and cheating case.

After consulting investigating officer Bajrang Parab, additional public prosecutor Dilip Shah sought permission from the court to withdraw the revision application. City Civil and Session Court Principal Judge Ashok Bhangale granted the permission with a liberty to file miscellaneous application.

Adv Shah told reporters that a miscellaneous application will be filed tomorrow.

On May 24, additional chief metropolitan magistrate V K Sharma had granted bail to Parkar who was booked in a forgery and extortion case.

The prosecution case is that Parkar had threatened Vinod Avalani, an estate agent, and refused to return his Rs 30 lakh which was paid to two builders for a slum redevelopment project deal that, however, failed to take off.

The judge, while granting bail, had directed her to attend the Anti Extortion Cell for 30 workings days between 1200 hrs to 1600 hrs for recording her statement. She was also directed to cooperate with investigating agency. The police, meanwhile, has alleged that Parkar is not cooperating them.
