Police ranges relocated, redefined in J
Srinagar, June 12 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government has accorded sanction to the creation of Udhampur police range comprising of Udhampur and Reasi districts, an official spokesman said today.
He said the police range would be headquartered at Udhampur.
The spokesman said the Cabinet, which met here last evening with Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in the chair, also approved relocation and redefining of jurisdiction of several police ranges.
According to the order, Deputy Inspector General (DIG - Central Kashmir Range) will be headquartered at Srinagar with jurisdiction comprising districts of Srinagar, Badgam, Ganderbal, Leh and Kargil.
DIG (North Kashmir Range) will be stationed at Baramulla with jurisdiction of Baramulla, Bandipora and Kupwara districts.
DIG (South Kashmir Range) will be headquartered at Anantnag with jurisdiction comprising Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama and Shopian revenue districts.
DIG Doda will be stationed at Doda with jurisdiction of districts of Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban. DIG Udhampur will be headquartered at Udhampur with jurisdiction comprising Udhampur and Reasi revenue districts.
DIG Jammu will be stationed at Jammu with jurisdiction of Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts. DIG Rajouri will be headquartered at Rajouri with jurisdiction comprising Rajouri and Poonch districts.
