NDA to decide Presidential candidate on Jun 13
Bangalore, June 12: Senior National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders will be meeting in New Delhi tomorrow to finalise its candidate for President election, BJP Vice President Muktar Abbas Naqui said today.
Alleging that Congress was in search of Sonia loyalist as candidate for the post, Mr Naqui told newsmen that BJP was loking for a candidate who wass National loyalist.
Stating that Congress never attempted for a consensus candidate, the BJP Spokesman said that only three days back Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asked for support to Congress selected candidate for President post. "Prime Minister's act was nothing but dictating other parties to extend support Congress candidate", he added.
He said the dirty politics played by the Congress was serious and claimed that a lot of underhand agreements were taking place.
Referring Bahujan Samajawadi Party (BSP) leader Mayawati announcing support to UPA candidate, he said this was not in the best interest of top constitutional post.
Replying to a question, he said that NDA, during last President election, had consulted each and every party before selection of Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, while this time Congress taking its own decision without consulting opposition for finding an unanimous candidate. "By this act Congress face was completely exposed", he added.
