Janpad President's election declared null and void

Satna, MP, June 12 (UNI) An election for the post of Rampur Baghelan Janpad President, held on February 24, 2005, has been declared null and void, official sources said today.

Satna district Collector Manish Rastogi set aside the election of Babulal Singh on a petition filed by another candidate Rambhan Singh, who alleged that the election was influenced with other people casting votes instead of Janpad members.

The petitioner claimed that the election was not free and fair.

Several Janpad members appeared as witnesses and supported the petitioner's claim before the District Collector's court and requested for setting aside of Babulal Singh's election.

Mr Rastogi gave the decision yesterday.
