Indian flight makes emergency landing

Chennai, June 12 (UNI) A Mumbai-bound Indian flight from here, with 139 passengers on board, made an emergency landing at Kamaraj domestic airport here today, after one of its wind screens developing a crack midair.

Official sources said the flight took off at 1040 hrs and the pilot noticed the crack mid-air. He immediately contacted the Air Traffic Control (ATC) in Chennai and Mumbai and was directed to return here, as the Chennai airport was the closest.

After making all types of arrangements on the ground, the ATC permitted the pilot to make an emergency landing here at 1140 hrs.

All the passengers were accommodated in the airport rest room and arrangements were on to arrange an alternative aircraft, besides setting right the faulty one, the sources added.
