Hooda calls for social reform on Arya Samaj pattern

Rohtak, Jun 12 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today gave a clarion call to the people to launch a campaign to eradicate social evils like female foeticide, superstitions, casteism and corruption from the society by following the path shown by Arya Samaj founder Swami Dayanand Saraswati.

The Chief Minister was addressing a function organised here to mark the first death anniversary of social reformer Swami Indervesh and 150th anniversary of first war of independence in 1857.

He said the state government had constituted a state level committee to commemorate the 150th anniversary of 1857. A memorial would be raised at Ambala to commemorate the memory of martyrs of the war of independence.

He said a museum would also be set up at Kurukshetra university campus and parks would be named after martyrs in various villages.

A 'granth' would be brought out by compiling various books on the contribution of Haryana during the freedom struggle of the country.

Sarvdeshik Arya Pritinidhi Sabha president Swami Agnivesh presided over the function and paid tributes to Swami Indervesh.

He said that Swami Indervesh had created a new awakening among the youth in the country. He had inspired the people to create such a social order which would be free from communalism, casteism, superstitions, exploitation, corruption and intoxicants.
