Dreaded dacoit Dadua's brother arrested
Lucknow, June 12 (UNI) Police today arrested dreaded dacoit Dadua's brother Bal Kumar Patel for getting a fake weapons' license made.
On June 9, Patel and his aides were taken in custody during a raid at the former's house in Rae Bareli district for interrogation.
The police team also seized five licensed weapons and as many vehicles. The license of three weapons were under the names of Bal Kumar, his wife and driver.
The raid was conducted following a 'confirmed' report that Dadua, carrying a reward of Rs five lakh on his head, was present there.
However, the outlaw had managed to hoodwink the police.
Secretary (home) Javed Ahmad here said two licenses had been found to be fake. Kumar had got them made from Rae Bareli by giving incorrect information, and had also not provided details of his criminal cases.
Bal Kumar had contested the recent Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha poll from Patti assembly segment of Pratapgarh on a SP ticket.
As many as five cases are pending against him in Chitrakoot, while two in Rae Bareli. Police is also probing as to how the weapons were issued to a history-sheeter.
At Kotwali Rae Bareli, Patel has several cases against him, including forgery, Arms Act, encroachment of land and accumulation of more wealth than sources of income.
A hunt is also on to trace Dadua's son Veer Singh, who is also the Zila Panchayat president of Karwi in Chitrakoot.
