DM reserves decision on SC status given to SP MP

Siddharthnagar, June 12 (UNI) District Magistrate Siddharthnagar will announce his decision on June 18 over the sanctioning of Schedule Caste (SC) status to Samajwadi Party MP Shankh Lal Manjhi.

Mr Manjhi was an MP from Akbarpuri (reserved) constituency.

The DM, Chobe Singh Verma, reserved his decision after hearing the counsels of Bahujan Samajwadi Party MP Lal Mani Prasad from Vadi Basti (reserved) constituency and Mr Manjhi.

Mr Prasad alleged that Mr Manjhi had aquired the SC status from the Revenue Department fraudulently and, therefore, was successful in winning seats from Haisar Bazar (reserved) and Akbarpuri (reserved) constituencies.

Later, Khalilabad Tehsildar rejected the SC certificate of Mr Manjhi. But he managed a stay order from the High Court.

After hearing the proceedings the court ordered the DM to investigate the case.
