Asom: Abducted school boy released

Guwahati, June 12: Abducted school boy Rajat Agarwalla of Asom was released by his kidnappers this morning. He returned home safely, police sources informed.

However, no group has claimed responsibility for the abduction.

Rajat was abducted from Sonari in Sivsagar district of upper Asom on June 7 last while he was on way to school. He is a student of class VII of St Joseph's High School.

Militant group Adivasi National Liberation of Assam (ANLA) was suspected to be behind the abduction.

Various organizations had condemned the abduction and a dawn-to-dusk Sonari bandh was also observed on June 8 protesting the abduction.
