8,701 viral fever cases reported from Kottayam Dist

Kottayam, Jun 12 (UNI) As many as 8,701 viral fever cases were reported from the district today, out of which 205 were suspected chikungunya cases and 14 confirmed cases.

Thirty-three dengue fever positive cases were also reported from the district.

According to district authorities, 1,370 cases were reported from Mundakkayam, Kanjirappally 772, Pala 766 and Kottayam District Hospital 795.

Meanwhile, the Navy medical team conducted camps at Koottickal and Manimala. Besides, fogging was undertaken in the area.

A six-member team from Pune Armed Forces under the leadership of Doctors Col Satheesh Kumar, Lt. Col Rajesh and Dr Reena Thilak, started operations at Kanjirappally.

Cleanliness week programmes started in the district under the auspices of the district, municipal and panchayat authorities and voluntary organisations.
