74-year-old royal commits suicide

Kolhapur, June 12 (UNI) A 74-year-old man belonging to the erstwhile royal family allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with a rifle at his residence here today.

The deceased, identified as Ramchandra Parshuram Pandit alias Bhaisaheb Bavadekar, was the chief of the Bavadekar Sansthan. He shot himself with his .22 rifle at around 0830 hrs, police said.

The cause of suicide is yet to be ascertained, they added.
