Two HM militants surrender in J

Jammu, June 11 (UNI) Two Pakistan-based Hizbul-Mujahiddin militants, including a top commander, laid down their weapons before the security forces in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.

SSP Doda, Manohar Singh told UNI that the Pakistan-trained HM commander Shahbaz Gazi, a resident of Bharthi village, surrendered before the police and 26 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) at Gandoh.

Shahbaz was an 'A-Graded' militant and was active in the area since 1998, the SSP said, asserting that the surrender was the result of meetings of police with the close relatives of the militant.

The militant also handed over one AK rifle, 3 magazines, 90 rounds, 3 wireless sets, a pouch and large quantity of other materials, Mr Singh said.

Meanwhile, a defence ministry spokesman said another HM Militant Riaz Ahmad surrenderd before 11 RR at Nava Bachi area of the district.
