Two drowned in Mahi Sagar river

Vadodara, June 11 (UNI) Two city youths drowned in the Mahi Sagar river near Lasanpura village under Savli taluka of the district.

A group of eight people, all from Sayajigunj area of the city, had gone to Lasanpura village, about 30 km away from here, last evening for picnic. To beat the oppressive heat, they all went for a swim in the river but strong current in the water swept them away.

However, the locals rushed to rescue them and could save one Imran Jafar Pathan.

However, two others -- Samir Khan Pathan (19) and Sajid Khan Pathan (21) -- drowned and their bodies are yet to be traced.

Vadodara fire fighters are still continuing with the search operation, sources added.
