Bengal: Train services disrupted protesting murder

Bangaon, June 11: Train services were disrupted today in the Bangaon-Ranaghat section of Sealdah division of Eastern Railway as CPI(M) activists blocked the Akaipur Railway station in North 24 Parganas protesting the murder of a former Panchayat pradhan.

A dawn to dusk strike has been observed locally, according to police.

Former CPI(M) Panchayat pradhan of Akaipur Subhas Biswas (55) was murdered yesterday by some miscreants at Aitpara under Gopalnagar police station, police said.

The miscreants allegedly shot him and hurled bombs before fleeing.

While one person was detained by the police, no one was arrested so far, police said adding investigation was on.
