JK: Top Hizbul Mujahideenmilitant surrenders
Jammu, June 11: The top commander of Pakistan-based militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) today laid down his weapons before the security forces in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.
SSP Doda Manohar Singh told sources that the Pakistan-trained HM commander Shahbaz alias Gazi, resident of Bharthi village, surrenderd before the police and 26 Rashtriya Rifles at Gandoh.
''Shahbaz was an 'A-Graded' militant and was active in the area since 1998,'' the SSP said, asserting that the surrender was the result of meetings of Police with the close relatives of the militant.
The militant also handed over one AK rifle, 3 magazines, 90 rounds, 3 wireless sets, a pouch and large quantity of other materials , Mr Singh said.
