Third front to play key role in LS polls: Chautala

Hisar, Jun 11: Predicting mid-term Lok Sabha polls, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) supremo Om Prakash today said the newly-formed third front would play a key role in these elections.

''The people of the country are now fed up of the Congress and the BJP and they are looking towards the third front with hope.

The third front will play a key role in the mid-term Lok Sabha polls which can be held any time now,'' he said while talking to reporters here.

On the Presidential elections, he said the third front had not yet taken a decision on the name of the candidate it would support.

The front would shortly call a meeting and take a decision with the consensus of the all its constituents.

The former Haryana Chief Minister also held Congress president Sonia Gandhi for the alleged anti-farmer policies of the UPA government.

Ms Gandhi, he said, did not want the farmers of the country to be in a prosperous state. ''She is directly responsible for the plight of the farmers in the country.

He regretted that while the government procurement agencies were purchasing wheat from farmers at the rate of Rs 850 per quintal, wheat was being imported from other countries at a rate of Rs 1300 per quintal.
