Scientist found dead in train

Nagpur, June 11 (UNI) A scientist working for the Meteorological Department at Machhalipatnam in Andhra Pradesh was found dead aboard the 2722 Hazrat-Nizamuddin-Hyderabad Dakshin Express here.

The scientist, identified as E Mutthuramlingam Elango (38), was found dead late on Saturday night, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Premlal Samudre of the Government Railway Police (GRP) said.

Fellow passengers said Mr Elango had initially complained of uneasiness and later fainted, Mr Samudre said.

The passengers had informed the police about the episode when the train pulled into Nagpur station, he added.

A medical officer of the railways examined Mr Elango and declared him dead, after which the body was sent for post-mortem, he said, adding that the cause of the death was not yet known.

Mr Elango hailed from village Naran Mallampuram in Tamil Nadu, he said.

The body was handed over to Mr Elango's cousin yesterday after the post-mortem, and was later flown to his native place, he added.

The ASI had informed Elango's cousin, who lives in Pune, about the death after finding his telephone number in Elango's mobile phone.

Sources in the Meteorological Department said Mr Elango had gone to New Delhi to attend a training session and was returning to Machhalipatnam to resume duty.
