Rs 7.10 cr allotted to prevent chikungunya in TN

Chennai, June 11 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today announced the appointment of 3,850 temporary field workers and allotted Rs 7.10 crores to prevent any outbreak of chikungunya in the state.

An official release here said the Chief Minister held discussions with Health Minister K K S S R Ramachandran and top Health Department officials in the wake of the outbreak of chikungunya in the neighbouring Kerala to prevent its spread in Tamil Nadu.

The preventive measures to be taken were discussed at the meeting.

Mr Karunanidhi also directed the officials to ensure adequate stock of medicines in hospitals and clinics to treat patients in the case of outbreak of the disease.
