Man arrested, counterfeit notes seized
Sangli, Maharashtra, June 11 (UNI) Police today arrested one person from Miraj taluka in this district and seized counterfeit currency notes with a total face value of Rs 3.75 lakh.
The arrested man has been identified as Gaus Modin alias Shafi Ibrahim Badebade (38), a resident of Arvindnagar in Hubli, Miraj city police inspector Bajirao Patil told UNI.
The counterfeit notes were in the denominations of Rs 500 (470 notes) and Rs 100 (1400 notes), Mr Patil informed.
Acting on a tip off that Gaus Ibrahim is likely to visit Miraj city to circulate the counterfeit notes, a police team, under the guidance of district superintedent of police Milind Bharmbe, laid a trap near a hotel and nabbed him.
