Five get lifeterm for killing neighbour

Howrah, Jun 11 (UNI) A local court today handed down five convicts to life term for killing a neighbour at Darsha under Jagacha police station in the district two years ago.

Howrah Fast Track court judge Sandip Roychoudhury pronounced the jail term to Joy Mukherjee (24) and his four accomplices for bludgeoing to death Amit Kale on January 19,2005.

Prosecutor said the convicts called the victim from his house and hacked to death with rods and stones.

The judge also fined them Rs 2000 each and said the terms could be extended another two years if they failed to pay the amount.
