Day temperatures fall in HP
Shimla, June 11 (UNI) Local people and tourists had some respite from unusual high temperatures in Himachal Pradesh today with the maximum declining by about three degrees at some places, the met office said.
The maximum at Shimla fell to 28.5 degrees Celsius today from yesterday's high of 31.5 degrees Celsius, which was the hottest day of the town in 12 years, it said.
The met office said the day temperatures also declined to 37.4, 35.2 and 36.4 degrees Celsius respectively at Sundernagar, Bhuntar and Dharamshala after recording highs of 41, 38.5 and 39 degrees Celsius yesterday.
Kalpa in Kinnuar district recorded a drop of one degree in the day temperature to stand at 26.6 degrees Celsius in comparison to yesterday's high of 27.3 degrees Celsius, it added.
However, heatwave conditions continue to prevail in almost all places in Una, Hamirpur and Bilaspur districts of the state with Una and Hamirpur towns recording a high of 41.4 degrees Celsius each.
Mild showers in Dharamshala town brought the day temperatures down, but maximum temperatures in the adjoining areas and the Kangra Valley remained high, the met office said.
However, it said the minimum temperatures at Sundernagar, Bhuntar and Dharamshala rose from 21.1, 17.9 and 22 degrees Celsius to 24.6, 20 and 25.4 degrees Celsius respectively.
It informed the Kalpa in Kinnuar district recorded an unusually high night temperature of 12.5 degrees Celsius as compared to 11.1 degrees Celsius recorded yesterday.
