Copper up, nickel down

Mumbai, Jun 11 (UNI) Copper rose on better buying support while nickel eased on poor industrial demand, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange said today.

In the ferrous section, copper heavy and copper utensils hiked by Rs 200 and Rs 500 per quintal respectively while brass utensils and brass cuttings went up by Rs 100 and Rs 200 per quintal respectively on increase of fresh demand.

In the non-ferrous section, copper wire bar and zinc slab went up by Rs 500 and Rs 100 per quintal respectively on lesser stock supply.

Tin slab and Nickel cathode fell by Rs five and Rs 40 per kg on increase offers by stockists.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 34,500, Copper utensils - Rs 31,000, Brass utensils - Rs 25,500, Brass cuttings - Rs 26,900 and Aluminium utensils - Rs 11,700.

Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 38,300, Aluminium ingots - Rs 14,000, Zinc slabs - Rs 19,200, Lead ingots - Rs 10,400, Tin slab - Rs 705 (per kg) and Nickel cathode - Rs 2,000 (per kg).
