CM's gesture to enginering students

Chennai, June 11 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today announced an assistance to the tune of Rs 35 lakh for 142 students to enable them to pursue their engineering courses.

An official release here said each of the 142 students who got admission through single window system and whose family annual income was less than Rs 50,000, would be given Rs 25,000 each from the Chief Minister's Public Relief fund.

This followed representations from students hailing from poor family seeking assistance to pursue higher education.

The assistance would be distributed to the students by the respective district collectors.
