BJP demonstrates before JSEB office over power problem

Jamshedpur, June 11 (UNI) Hundreds of BJP activists today demonstrated before the Jharkhand State Electricity Board(JSEB) office here and locked the main gate in protest against erratic power supply.

The demonstrators, led by BJP MLA from Jamshedpur West Saryu Rai, gheraoed the office of the General Manager and shouted slogans against the JSEB officials, who were held responsible for the poor power supply in Mango and Ulyan areas here.

Mr Rai told UNI that the BJP had given a month's ultimatum to the Board to restore normal supply failing which the party would lock the East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner's office. Besides, it would stage road blockade on National Highway 33 against the JSEB's 'apathetic' attitude.

Mr Rai said a 10 MVA transformer at Baliguma area in Mango remained faulty for the last six months but the authorities did not take any action to restore it.

He also demanded replacing the 100 KV transformer with the 200 KV as the old one failed to take load.

Mr Rai said in many places people get only two to three hours' electricity during summer and the situation worsened this year.
