Arunachal: AAPSU demands ILP for refugees

Itanagar, June 11: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) while appreciating the state government decision to constitute a high power committee to resolve the refugee row, today demanded the introduction of Inner Line Permits(ILP) for the Chakma and Hajong refugees in the state.

The apex students' body which had been fighting for the deportation of the refugees settled illegally in the state, urged the committee to consider the grievances raised by the union in the larger interest of the state.

AAPSU president Kanu Bagang and general secretary Ojing Tasing in a statement, while expressing resentment over the non-inclusion of the union's demand for introduction of Arunachal Education Bill in the assembly as already appraised to the government, the AAPSU commented that the Bill would imbibe qualitative education and streamline the education system in the state.

Expressing solidarity with the agitating Malaria Employees Association(MEA), the union flayed the termination order served by the director of health services to 332 employees appointed by the former director in the malaria department and demanded cancellation of the order.

The union observed that the termination order was served without taking the consent of the inquiry committee constituted by the state government and appealed for cancellation of the order till the outcome of the committee's report.

The students' body also urged the government to strictly follow the recruitment rules in appointments to avoid controversy.
