Two students drown in Ganga

Dehra Dun, June 9 (UNI) Two students from Industrial Technical Institute(ITI) were drowned in the river Ganga at Rishikesh in this district today.

According to the police sources, the mishap happened at around 1445 hrs when 6 boys from ITI, Dehra Dun, ventured into the river Ganga for a bath at Mastram Baba's Ashram near Laxman Jhula.

Chandradeep (21) of Dehra Dun was first pulled down by the river current and Anuraag Bhardwaj (22) of Hardwar in a bid to help his friend drowned in the river.

PAC and Disaster Management Teams have been pressed into the search operation. The bodies are yet to be recovered.

According to police, the area where boys have decided to bathe was prohibited for bathing.
