South West Monsoon advances

Pune, June 9 (UNI) The south-west monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of south-west and west central Bay and remaining parts of Assam and Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and some parts of Sikkim.

Conditions are also favourable for further advance of south-west monsoon into some more parts of west Bengal and Sikkim during next 48 hours.

Heavy rain or thunder-showers are likely to occur at many places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Tripura, West Bengal and Sikkim, Orissa, Vidarbha, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Rain or thunder-showers are likely to occur at many places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Bihar, north Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Karnataka and Andaman and Nicobar and at a few places in Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Konkan and Goa, south Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Andhra Pradesh and at isolated places in Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and interior Karnatatka. Mainly dry weather will prevail over Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat State.

Very heavy rain have occurred at most places in Assam and Meghalaya. Rain or thunder-showers have occured at most places in Lakshadweep and at many places in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal and Sikkim, Orissa, Kerala and at a few places in Vidarbha, coastal Karnataka, Andaman and Nicobar and at isolated places in Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and interior Karnataka. Mainly dry weather prevailed over Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Rayalaseema.

Heat wave conditions prevailed in some parts of Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and at isolated places in Orissa, Jharkhand, east Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and west Rajasthan. In the regions where the south-west monsoon is yet to set in, day temperatures were markedly above normal in Jammu and Kashmir and in some parts of Uttaranchal, appreciably above normal in some parts of east Rajasthan, coastal Saurashtra, Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra and in remaining parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh and were above normal in some parts of west Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat region Vidarbha, coastal Andhra Pradesh and in remaining parts of Jharkhand, east Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, east Rajasthan and Konkan and Goa. They were below normal in some parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Marathwada and Telangana. They were normal over the rest of the regions.
