PM pained over Tamils' expulsion from Colombo
On Board PM's Special Aircraft, June 9 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said he was ''pained'' by the expulsion of Tamils from Colombo and expressed the hope that ''better sense will prevail'' upon the Sri Lankan government.
Talking to reporters while returning from Germany, Dr Singh said he understood the problems of the Sri Lankan government, but the human rights of citizens should not be violated under any circumstances.
Expressing relief over the Supreme Court's stay on the Sri Lankan government's expulsion move, Dr Singh said, ''I share the concern'' expressed by the judiciary on the issue.'' Replying to a question, he said he has been sharing his ''anxiety'' over the development in India's neighbourhood with all the world leaders he had met.
