Pentagon says Japan wants to buy missiles
WASHINGTON, June 8 (Reuters) The Defence Security Cooperation Agency said today it notified Congress of a possible military sale to Japan of missiles and equipment valued at up to 475 million dollar.
The government of Japan wants to buy nine SM-3 Block IA STANDARD missiles with MK 21 Mod 2 canisters, ballistic missile defence upgrades to one AEGIS Weapon System, AEGIS BMD Vertical Launch System ORDALTs and spare parts, the Pentagon said in a statement.
The equipment is made by Lockheed Martin Corp, Raytheon Co and BAE Systems, the statement said.
