Nepali journalists flay control of Pakistani press
Kathmandu, Jun 9 (UNI) Heads of six media related organisations have said that suppression and control of the Pakistani press had shocked the entire Nepali media.
In a joint statement issued here today, they demanded that the Pakistan government should remove all kinds of control over the press, release the arrested journalists and compensate the families of the journalists who were killed.
"We want to draw the attention of the Pakistani government to learn from the experience of Nepal that anti-press activities would not be beneficial to the incumbent government", they said in the statement.
The president of Federation of Nepalese Journalists, Bishnu Nisthuri, coordinator of the South Asia Media Commission Rajendra Dahal, chairperson of South Asian Free Media Association, Nepal Gopal Thapaliya, president of Nepal Press Union, Murari Kumar Sharma, president of Press Chutari, Nepal Bal Krishna Chapagain and president of National Union of Journalists, Tej Prakash Pandit have signed the statement.
