Murderous attack on jailer
Rewa, MP, June 9 (UNI) Two unidentified youths today shot at and injured Rewa Central Jail's Jailer Shyam Singh, police said.
Mr Singh was on his routine morning walk when motorcycle-borne youths opened fire on him at around 0530 hrs. The bike did not have a number plate. Mr Singh received two gunshots on his shoulders and back.
He was admitted to Rewa's Sanjay Gandhi Smriti hospital where bullet was taken out from his shoulder. However, the bullet from his chest could not be taken out.
Later, he was taken to Indore in a helicopter of the state government and was admitted to a hospital there.
After the incident, both accused went some distance through motorcycle before setting off towards Shahdol in car. Three other people were seen with them in the car.
Meanwhile, reports of firing between the accused and police had been received from Papra forest bordering Shahdol and Satna. Police have cordoned off the jungle.
It was being suspected that the conspiracy to kill the jailer had been hatched up in the jail.
