Maninder Singh hospitalised after suicide bid
New Delhi, June 9: Former test cricketer Maninder Singh, recentlyarrested in a narcotics case, was admitted to a private hospital earlytoday after he slashed his wrists in an alleged suicide attempt.
Police, however, did not confirm whether it was a suicide attemptor a case of accident as claimed by his friends and family members.
''Maninder was admitted to the Shantimukund Hospital by hisneighbour in Mausam Vihar locality in Preet Vihar area of East Delhi,''said DCP (East) Ajay Chaudhary.
''We have not spoken to the doctor yet but we'll be able to reacha conclusion only after knowing the nature of the injury,'' the DCPadded.
''Maninder is presently out of danger but still in the operatingtheatre... Nothing can be said about the incident as Maninder is not ina position to make a statement,'' doctors said.
Police received a call at about 0100 hrs after the former testspinner was brought to the hospital in a critical condition with bothwrists slashed.
Maninder, who is presently out on bail, was arrested on May 23 forallegedly possesing 1.5 gms of cocaine along with associate and friendSiam Siddique by the Narcotics Branch of Delhi police.
