Khandu assures suitable relief package in power projects

Itanagar, June 9 (UNI) Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu has assured full job gurantee in Group C and D posts besides suitable rehabilitation package to people likely to be affected by various power projects in the state.

The Chief Minister's assurance came after a delegation of the All Adi Students' Union (AASU) called on him yesterday and discussed projects entrusted to National Hydro Electric Power Corporation (NHPC) and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) in Dibang basin, sources informed here today.

The Chief Minister also assured to provide one paisa per unit of the 12 per cent royalty for the development of the district where power project would be executed, sources said.

It might be mentioned here that various organisations have recently protested the state government's move to sign Memorandum of Agreements (MoAs) with various private power developers without preparation of detailed project reports (DPRs) and Environment Impact Asessment (EIA) report for executing power projects.

The union during the meeting also pleaded the chief minister to ckeck political interference in any developmental issues raised by pressure groups, sources added.
