Srinagar, Jun 9: Jammu and Kashmir Apex Project ClearanceCommittee (APCC) has approved investment mobilization of over Rs 450crore and creation of employment for 2,500 persons by giving nod tofive investment proposal in medium and large scale industrial sectors.

The committee which met under the Chairmanship of Chief SecretaryC Phunsog here cleared the projects and emphasised the need formonitoring effectively the employment criterion and providing 90 percent employment to the locals The prominent among the project clearedare manufacturing unit of high quality garments by M/s Tees ApparelsPrivate Ltd, a Chennai- based company at Industrial Growth CentrePulwama, Kashmir, an official spokesman said today.

He said the project is being set up at a cost of Rs 130 crore intwo phases with an investment of Rs 83.45 crore in Phase-I of theproject and the company will be creating employment opportunities forat least 2,000 skilled and semi skilled workers.

Another project for the manufacture of Pulp, Duplex Board andpaper is being set up by one of the leading industrial houses of thecountry M/S Bharat Box at Kathua in Jammu with an investment of Rs 201crore with an employment potential for 882 persons.

The other projects cleared are for manufacturing of safety shoes, Pharmaceuticals and Value Added Milk Products.

He also stressed the need to ensure that the pollution concernsare seriously taken care of while allowing industrial units to beestablished in the state.
