I have just become Environment Minister: PM

On Board PM's Special Aircraft, June 9 (UNI) ''I have just become the Minister for Environment,'' Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today announced, evoking a peel of laughter from mediapersons.

Dr Singh made the statement in reply to a question on the problem relating to the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).

''I haven't had time to study the issue. Now that you have asked me about it, I will go into it,'' he added.

He was talking to reporters while returning from his four-day visit to Germany.
