CM reshuffles portfolio, allocates Cooperation to Ko Si Mani

Chennai, June 9 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunaidhi today effected a minor reshuffle in his Cabinet, re-allocating Cooperation to his senior colleague Ko Si Mani.

An official release here said on advice of the Chief Minister, the subject of Cooperation held by Mr A V Velu, Minister for Food and Cooperation, has been reallocated to Mr Ko Si Mani.

Mr Mani, Minister for Statistics and Ex-servicemen, would now be redesignated as Minister for Cooperation and Mr Velu as Minister for Food, the release said.

The change of portfolio assumed significance in the wake of elections to the cooperative societies, commencing later this month.

The Opposition AIADMK and its ally, the MDMK, had already announced that they would boycott the cooperative polls, alleging that the elections are being held with fake members.
