Chennai, June 9 (UNI) After a long odyssey in various political parties, veteran politician K Subbu returned to the ruling DMK, after he was expelled from the opposition AIADMK.

Mr Subbu called on DMK President and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi at the latter's Gopalapuram residence and rejoined the party after presenting him a shawl.

DMK organisation secretary T K S Elangovan and Union Minister A Raja were present on the occasion, a party release here said.

The veteran trade unionist, who was with the AIADMK, faced the axe after he incurred the wrath of party leader J Jayalalithaa for writing an article in a Tamil magazine, praising the administrative capabilities of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.

Mr Subbu began his political career in the Communist Party of India (CPI) and became the party's legislator in 1971, before he quit the party and joined the DMK.

He turned an acerbic critic of late Chief Minister M G Ramachandran and joining hands with Duraimurugan and Rehmankhan, he took on the AIADMK regime in the Assembly in the 1980s. However, he quit the DMK and joined the AIADMK.

Mr Subbu did not last long in the AIADMK and joined the Congress, before he came back to the DMK. He had once again quit the DMK and rejoined the AIADMK. Now on being expelled from the party, he rejoined the DMK.

Mr Subbu, whose movement has been restricted after one of his legs was amputated, is still a powerful speaker and orator.
