South-west monsoon advances

Pune, June 8 (UNI) The south-west monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of south interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, south-west Bay, entire east central and north-east Bay, parts of west central and north-west Bay, entire Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, parts of Assam and Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh.

Also conditions are favourable for its further advance of the south-west monsoon into some parts of Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, some more parts of interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu in remaining parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya and in some parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during next 2 to 3 days.

Heavy rain or thunder-showers are likely to occur at many places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Rain or thunder-showers are likely to occur at many places in south Konkan and Goa, south Madhya Maharashtra and Andaman and Nicobar Islands and at a few places in Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar, Vidarbha, north Konkan, north Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Andhra Pradesh State, Tamil Nadu and interior Karnataka and at isolated places in east Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh. Mainly dry weather will prevail over the west Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujrat State.

Very heavy rain have occurred at most places in Assam and Meghalaya. Rain or thunder-showers have occured at many places in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal, Vidarbha, Telangana, Kerala, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep and at a few places in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Konkan and Goa, Marathwada, Rayalseema, Tamil Nadu, coastal and north interior Karnataka and at isolated places in Orissa, Bihar Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh and south interior Karnataka. Mainly dry weather prevailed at Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Gujrat State.

Heat wave conditions prevailed in some parts of Orissa, east Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh and at isolated places in north-west Rajasthan, Vidarbha and north Chattisgarh. Hot day conditions also prevailed in some parts of Hydrabad and at isolated places in west Rajasthan. In the regions where the south-west monsoon is yet to set in, day temperatures were appreciably above normal in some parts of Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttaranchal, Himachal Pradesh, south Madhya Maharashtra and in remaining parts of east Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and were above normal in some parts of Haryana, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, east Rajasthan and Konkan and Goa. They were markedly below normal in some parts of Andhra Pradesh and in remaining parts of south Madhya Maharashtra; appreciably below normal in some parts of Tamil Nadu and were below normal in some parts of south Chattisgarh. They were normal over the rest of the country.
