Prashant Sahni tops Mumbai division with 95.17 pc marks

Mumbai, Jun 8 (UNI) Prashant Kulbhushan Sahani has topped the general merit list of the Mumbai divisional board of the Higher Sceondary Certificate (HSC) examination by securing 95.17 per cent marks, the results of which were announced today.

According to the results declared by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education today, Kulbhushan a student of the vocational stream of Sathay Mahavidylaya scored 571 marks out of 600.

Niti Satish Khadapkar from S S&L S Patkar College, who topped among the girls in the division with 570 marks (95 per cent) stood second in the general merit list followed by Aziz Moiz Arsiwala of Jai Hind College, who scored 569 marks (94.83 per cent).

Among the other highlights of the results, Mrunmayi Nandgoankar Bharat topped in the backward class candidates by scoring 561 marks (93.50 per cent).

In the science stream Sanjana Jagdish Naik of D G Ruparel College topped with 568 marks (94.67 per cent), while Hrishikesh Dinkar Samant from R A Poddar College of Comm&Economics topped the commerce stream with 553 marks (92.17 per cent). Ajay Krishna Kumar of ST. Xavier's College topped the Arts stream with 521 marks (86.83 per cent).

A total of 1,93,079 students appeared for the examination as 'fresh candidates' out of which 1,59,085 candidates successfully passed out with 82.39 pass percentage.

In a departure from its earlier practice of announcing the full merit list, the Board this year just released the names of the first three toppers.

The examination was conducted at 157 centres and candidates were permitted to answer the papers in Marathi, English, Gujarati, Kannada, Urdu and Hindi respectively.
