Police take steps to reduce bootlegging menace

Port Blair, June 8 (UNI) To curb bootlegging menace here, the Andaman and Nicobar Police has tightened the noose on all bootleggers in this remote archipelago.

Altogether 139 excise cases were registered in the last fortnight, police said today.

Around 146 persons, including 31 women, have been arrested from these islands.

Cheap illicit liquor and contrabands were also seized by police in the past few days.
