Distribution of fish medicine begins
Hyderabad, June 8 (UNI) Distribution of fish medicine to patients suffering from asthma began here tonight, amid tight security in the wake of the recent bomb blast in the historic Mecca Masjid.
Over one lakh murrel fingerlings were kept ready by the Fisheries department for being administered to patients at the 24 distribution centres, by the Bathini Goud family.
The steady stream of patients from different parts of the country thronging the Exhibition grounds were frisked with metal detectors, while the movement of a large number of patients was monitored by Closed Circuit Television sets.
While patients throng the city every year in the belief that the fish medicine provided miraculous cure for the respiratory ailment, rationalist organisations, including the 'Jana Vignana Vedike', have dubbed it as ''unscientific''.
