Congress expels T P S Rawat

New Delhi, June 8 (UNI) Lt Gen(Retd) and former Uttarakhand Minister T P S Rawat, who resigned from his Assembly seat to join the BJP today, has since been expelled from the Congress.

Congress Spokesman Satyavrat Chaturvedi made this announcement during the routine press briefing of the party here.

Mr Rawat, who represented Dhumkot Assembly constituency in Uttarkhand, was Excise Minister in the previous Congress Government.

The Congress Spokesman also hailed the formation of a Congress-led Government in Goa, saying it was a matter of satisfaction that the Congress had again received the mandate to form the Government and Mr Digambar Kamat had become the Chief Minister of Goa.

Mr Chaturvedi evaded a question on Gujjar agitation demanding ST status for themin Rajasthan, saying the Supreme Court has taken a suo motu cognisance of the whole matter.
